  • 3/4 cup dark brown sugar (163 grams), packed
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar (156 grams)
  • 1 and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour (390 grams)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 35 pieces Werther's soft caramels

Instructions

  1. Unwrap caramels; set aside.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, melt butter and whisk in both sugars until combined.
  3. Add vanilla extract and eggs; whisk until smooth.
  4. Stir in flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until dough forms. Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Chill dough for 20 minutes before scooping into balls.
  6. Encapsulate each dough ball around a whole caramel; place sliced caramels on top.
  7. Bake at 365°F (185°C) for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden.
