  • 300 g granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs (room temperature)
  • 240 g Greek yogurt (as a substitute for sour cream)
  • 60 g vegetable oil (e.g., canola oil)
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 400 g butter (room temperature)
  • 660 g powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 23 tbsp caramel

Instructions

  1. Prepare the salted caramel sauce by cooking sugar and water until amber, then add butter and cream, stirring in salt.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch cake pans.
  3. Mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in one bowl; cream butter and sugar in another before adding eggs, sour cream, oil, and vanilla.
  4. Gradually combine dry ingredients with wet ingredients until just mixed. Divide batter into prepared pans.
