Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup walnuts or pecans, finely chopped
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the sour cream and vanilla extract until fully combined.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually incorporate this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour.
  5. For the filling, mix together the chopped nuts, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  6. Roll out chilled dough into rectangles on a floured surface. Spread nut mixture evenly over each rectangle.
  7. Roll each rectangle tightly into logs and slice into cookies about an inch thick.
  8. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake cookies on parchment-lined baking sheets for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on a wire rack before serving.
