  1. Rinse the jasmine rice in cold water using a sieve until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
  2. In a medium pot, combine the rinsed rice, coconut milk, water, sugar, and salt. Stir gently to blend.
  3. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover. Let it simmer for 18 minutes without lifting the lid.
  4. After 18 minutes, check if all liquid has been absorbed. If needed, cook for an additional 2-4 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and let sit covered for 10 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
