  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon maraschino cherry juice
  • ¼ teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped maraschino cherries
  • 24 Hershey Kisses
  • Optional: 2 ounces chocolate chips for drizzling

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Mix in the maraschino cherry juice and almond extract until well combined.
  3. Gradually add flour, mixing until just combined.
  4. Gently fold in the chopped cherries using a spatula.
  5. Use a cookie scoop to portion dough into balls, roll in sugar, and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
  6. Chill for 20-30 minutes in the refrigerator.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake cookies for about 10 minutes or until lightly golden around the edges.
  8. Remove from oven, press a Hershey Kiss into each cookie center while still warm, and allow to cool on a rack.
  9. For an optional touch, melt chocolate chips and drizzle over cooled cookies.
