  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 8 oz mushrooms, diced
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon ground cumin
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 4 pita pockets
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • ½ cucumber, grated and drained
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tzatziki sauce by mixing Greek yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, lemon juice, chopped dill, olive oil, and salt in a bowl. Chill in the fridge.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté chopped onion and minced garlic until softened.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  4. Stir in diced mushrooms along with smoked paprika, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Open each pita pocket and fill generously with the beef mixture. Top with shredded cheese.
  6. Serve warm with tzatziki sauce on the side.
