  • 1 pound thick-cut turkey bacon (diced)
  • 1 large yellow onion (finely diced)
  • 2 small Fuji apples (peeled and diced)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic (minced)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 3 tablespoons whiskey

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, cook the turkey bacon until crispy, then set aside while leaving some grease in the pan.
  2. Sauté the diced onions in the remaining grease over medium-low heat until translucent (8–10 minutes).
  3. Add diced apples to the onions and cook until softened (4–5 minutes).
  4. Stir in minced garlic, brown sugar, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, chili powder, and reserved turkey bacon.
  5. Remove from heat and carefully stir in whiskey before returning to low heat.
  6. Simmer for 10–12 minutes until thickened to a jam-like consistency.
